Daily Bible Reading with DragoNate #28

God is with You

Numbers 9

I pray blessings on you as you read.

(v. 15) "On the day the tabernacle, the Tent of the Testimony, was set up, the cloud covered it. From evening till morning the cloud above the tabernacle looked like fire." (v. 17) "Whenever the cloud lifted from above the Tent the Israelites set out; wherever the cloud settled, the Israelites encamped."

My Thoughts

Do you ever wish that you had a sign that God is with you? Something to show you God is near, and maybe even to show you where He wants you to go and what to do? The Israelites had the cloud. God had manifested Himself in this cloud to guide the Israelites on their journey. If they moved during the day, they followed wherever the cloud went. At night, it looked like fire so that their way was lit.

The cloud was a physical sign of God, and was also their guide so that they knew where to go. God doesn't do the same kind of thing for us anymore. We still know that He is with us because of His promise in Deuteronomy 31:6. Hold on to this promise from God. You don't need to be able to see something for proof that He is there, that is what faith is for. Faith is knowing that God is with us, even when we cannot hear, see or feel Him.

In those times when we do not hear, see or feel God, He is still there right beside us. He will not take away all our problems, that's just not what He does. If God does everything for us or makes everything easy for us, then what do we learn? Nothing. We learn that everything will be easy for us and that we don't need to do anything. That doesn't work. God will comfort us through all tough situations, laugh with us when we laugh, cry with us when we are sad, and smile with us when we are happy.

No, God doesn't appear to us as a cloud, guiding us where we need to go and showing us, physically, that He is there. He does still communicate with us. God does guide us. Not in the same way, but He definitely does. We talk to Him, and He does respond. It's like having a conversation with a friend. They are not always going to say what you want them to say, they have their own opinions and give their own answers. God is the same. He is not a magic 8 ball that we can ask the same request different times and get a different answer. God know us best and will guide us if we let Him.

For God to give us any guidance, we have to allow Him. We need to ask Him for guidance, and then have faith that He will do so. When time comes, we need to follow that guidance. If you don't actually follow Him because you think your way is better, or at least seems better, how can you expect God to give you guidance in the future? Always trust that God is with you, no matter what. He will not make anything easier for you just so you don't have to deal with whatever tough situation, but He will comfort you, heal you and stay with you through anything and everything that happens to you. Just have faith.
