Accountable to One Another

Ezekiel 3

I pray blessings on you as you read.

(v. 18) "When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand."

My Thoughts

God sent Ezekiel to speak to the Israelites. Ezekiel was told by God that he would be accountable for any man's sins whom he did not warn against their sin. So, if God said that a man would die because of his sin, and Ezekiel did nothing to warn him or otherwise save his life, Ezekiel would be held accountable for the man's blood. This applies to our lives in the following way: If we stand by as 'innocent' bystanders, we are just as much at fault for the wrong that we do nothing about.

Of course, we can't really go around correcting everyone we see doing wrong, or saying that they will die because of their sin, or condemning people for what they're doing. As brothers and sisters in the Lord, we should be helping each other and looking out for one another. If you see your brother or sister in Christ doing what is wrong, you should go them about it. Do so with love, and without judgement. Take the matter to that person specifically, rather than making it a huge thing with a larger group of people. By doing nothing, you basically allow it to continue.

We are accountable for one another. We may not be to the point that we are held responsible for what they did, when we had no part in it. However, the community that we are supposed to have in Christ makes us family. Our Church family, or Christ family. Just as you would help a sibling or cousin who is in trouble, you should help your fellows in Christ when they are in trouble. This can even be as simple as prayer. Prayer isn't a simple thing, it is very powerful. If you are not sure about bringing up the matter with the person, then you should pray about it, or even talk to a mentor.

Prayer Time

Now you talk to God about what you read, and you can even read this chapter of the Bible for yourself before you do. Thanks for reading, Godbless!
