Daily Bible Reading #1 - Creator God

Creator God

Genesis 1

I pray blessings on you as you read.

(v. 1) "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth." (v. 2) "... The Spirit of God was hovering over the waters." (v. 26) "... Let us make man in our own image." (v. 28) "... Rule over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves along the ground."

My Thoughts

God created all things. In verse 26, where it says 'us' and 'our', these are collective words. What this means is God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit were all present at this time. The Holy Trinity. Jesus isn't mentioned until later in the Bible, but He was present at the beginning of creation. God made us, humans, in His own image, not only physically, but spiritually as well. He made us to be one with Him, to love Him and to serve Him obediently and to be loved by Him.

We were given rule over the creatures of the Earth. Not rule as in dominance, but rule as in responsibility. Like the way a parent is responsible for their child. Or a king is responsible for his kingdom. The best kings are active in their kingdom. They are a leader for their people and they love, protect and serve their kingdom, just as a good parent does with their child. A good king does not rule by fear or force.

Just as we should not rule over the animals by fear or force, we should not fear any of them either. Yes, some animals were put here for us as food. Even so, we need to have respect for the lives of these animals and respect for the responsibility given to us by the Creator.

Prayer Time

Now you talk to God about what you read, and you can even read this chapter of the Bible for yourself before you do. Godbless!
